Manufacturing Capabilities

  • 2 sand mixers for large and medium sized molds with a mixing rate of 1,000 pounds per batch.
  • 2 manual molding lines for medium size cope and drag interlocked dump box molding.
  • Core area for large cores.
  • Two 1,000 kg induction furnaces with a melt capacity of 8,000 kg per shift per shift for gray and Ductile Iron

MELTING

The metal is prepared in a 1 ton capacity high frequency induction furnace. The raw materials like mild steel scrap, carburisers and Ferro Alloys are purchased from reputed companies. The raw materials are tested by our own well equipped laboratory. The raw materials have to meet the stringent norms laid down by the quality system. A record of testing of incoming raw materials is maintained. The liquid metal both for cast iron and ductile iron is tested for its chemical composition in our lab before it is poured in the molds. The temperature of each heat is monitored with the help of dip type Pyrometer. A mobile pyrometer is used to check the temperature while pouring. During pouring of the metal samples are taken at different stages and checked for nodularity. The acceptance and rejection of the castings is as per the nodularity requirements of the metal. Ductile Iron manhole covers are made of grade 500/7.

FETTLING & INSPECTION

After castings are poured, 3 samples are taken and checked for their microstructure. If the nodularity & matrix structure of these samples is as per the norms then batches of castings are accepted or rejected if otherwise. They are thoroughly checked for any visual defects (100%) and then allowed to be processed further. The castings after fettling are once again checked for any defect.

PAINTING

Before painting, the casting is shot-blasted with the help of a hanging-type shot-blasting machine. The casting are either coated in black bitumen or any other primer specified by the customer.

TESTING
The patterns are checked for all the dimensions thereby ensuring the accuracy of castings. We get our castings tested (on random basis) for load bearing capacities by reputed labs at regular intervals.
